On Tuesday the 14th of January, Jeffrey Schultz, Senior Economist, and Nicholas Borain, Political Analyst, of the BNP Paribas South Africa branch put out a 17-page report entitled “South Africa 2020: Keeping the Lights On”. The third page of which includes a very instructive chart, reproduced with permission below. Along the top of the chart are the calendar months of 2020, an obvious element for a Roadmap for 2020. The more interesting element is the placement of each key event for 2020 against the risk scale on the far left-hand side which in certain instances also contains BNP’s outlook for that event. It’ll take you 5 minutes to absorb this material but we fully expect to be engaged with it for the remainder of this year.
